Fatherly Advice ( Proverbs 4-Part 3)

by GL Jones

A comparison of the King James and the New Life Translation Versions of Proverbs 4 of the Bible.

Solomon is reported to have a lot of women in his lifetime: (700wives + 300 concubines), so he had a lot of sons and daughters. Here is his wise instruction to them. Having much experience as a parent, he now gives the children more instructions:

Proverbs 4:19- 27 (Fatherly Advice)

19- The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

20- My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21- Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22- For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23- Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24- Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

25- Let  thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26- Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

27- Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Proverbs 4:19-27 NLT (A Father’s Wise Advice)

19- But the way of the wicked is like total darkness.

20- My child, pay attention to what I say.Listen carefully to my words.

21- Don’t lose sight of them.Let them penetrate deep into your heart,

22- for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.

23- Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

24- Avoid all perverse talk;stay away from corrupt speech.25Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.

26- Mark out a straight path for your feet;stay on the safe path.

27- Don’t get sidetracked;keep your feet from following evil.
