Proverbs 14:18- 22 KJV
18- The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19- The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20- The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
21-He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
22- Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
Overview: Proverbs 14:18-22
In Proverbs, chapter 14:18; Solomon contrasts the reward of the SIMPLE (which is FOLLY or DECEIT) vs the reward of the PRUDENT (KNOWLEDGE).
In verse 19, Solomon tells us that GOOD will always overcome EVIL and the RIGHTEOUS will always have rule over the WICKED!
In verse 20, Solomon tells us that the POOR is hated even by the people that are the closest to him (Family and Friends) while the RICH has many friends.
In verse 21, Solomon tells us that if we depise our NEIGHBOR then we SIN but having MERCY on the POOR will bring us God’s FAVOR and HAPPINESS!
In verse 22, Solomon warns of the ERROR of those who devise EVIL but tells us that a balance of MERCY & TRUTH will come to those who devise GOOD!
