Commentary by GL Jones
22- Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.
23- A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
24- The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
25- Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
26- The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
27- The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
28- In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
Overview: Proverbs 12:22-28
In Proverbs, chapter 12, verse 22, Solomon tells us that Liars are an ABOMINATION to God by they that dealin TRUTH are his DELIGHT!
In verse 23, Solomon tells us that the PRUDENT man hides KNOWLEDGE while FOOLS proclaim their FOOLISHNESS!
In verse 24, Solomon tells us that the DILIGENT will bear rule but the LAZY will be under SUPERVISION.
In verse 25, Solomon tells us the effects of our WORDS on the heart:
– HEAVINESS or sadness make th the heart STOOP
– A GOOD Word makes it GLAD!
In verse 26, Solomon tells us that the RIGHTEOUS are better than those around him but the WAY of the WICKED SEDUCES him!
In verse 27, Solomon tells us that the LAZY man won’t cook what he has killed in hunting, but food and resources are PRECIOUS to the diligent man.
And lastly in verse 28, Solomon tells us that in the WAY of RIGHTEOUSNESS is LIFE; and in the PATHWAY thereof there is no DEATH. If we have DEATH in our lives then usually we are not walking in the PATHWAY of the WAY of RIGHTEOUSNESS or the center or God’s Direct WILL for our lives!
