The Words of the Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 55:8) (Isaiah 50:4-6)
8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.(Isaiah 55:8)
4The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
5The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
6I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.(Isaiah 50:4-6)
The Words of King Solomon ( Ecclesiastes 3:1-14)
1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?
10I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
12I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.
13And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.
14I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
5Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the Lord understand all things. (Proverbs 28:5)
The Words of the Prophet Amos
12For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph. (Amos5:12-15)
A Word from the Apostle Peter concerning Wives (I Peter 3:7)
7Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
Let’s draw a Conclusion from these scriptures:
The Prophet Isaiah tells us they God’s thoughts and God’s ways are different than ours. Therefore we can assume that God’s timing must be different also.Isaiah had to learn how to speak a proper word to the weary for correction and exhortation is indeed an art.
The wise King Solomon tells us that there is a time and season for all things and that God makes everything beautiful in His own time.He went on to say that evil men understand not JUDGEMENT but they that seek the LORD understood ALL THINGS! Solomon also went on to say that there is A TIME TO SPEAK and A TIME TO KEEP SILENCE!
The Prophet Amos spoke of the last days and the EVIL TIME and how that the PRUDENT would keep silence in that time!
The Apostle Peter tells us in the New Testament church that the husband ought dwell with his wife according to knowledge.This word word knowledge has to do with understanding his wife.Having been married for 35 years , I throw this out as a bonus to the husbands in the audience. The hardest thing for a husband to learn is the right balance in temperament and when to keep silence.
There are 2 Things I tell the men that we counsel with:
1.Always speak the TRUTH in LOVE.
2.KNOW WHO and WHAT you are dealing with.There are many spirits in the world today that your wife may be battling with: (humanism,feminism,lesbianism,secularism,materialism) just to name a few!
Also, in understanding your wife, you should know her upbringing and any dysfunction she may have grown up with.As men we should rule our families by God’s Word and Spirit.These are the only 2 forces that can change people!
Likewise in dealing with marriage and other family relationships, it helps to know the spiritual state of those that you are dealing with:
- Are these normal people?
- Are they proud scorners,narcissists,sociopaths, or even psychopaths?
- Are they easily drawn to repentance by the acknowledgement of the TRUTH?
- When was the last time an apology was offered for wrong doings?
- We can save ourselves needless drama, time and effort if we will learn and know God’s timing!
