Proverbs 25: 26
A righteous man falling down before the wicked is like a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
I been in this place more than once in my lifetime.Like David in his many Psalms, I cried out in my days of affliction : Lord why is the righteous forsaken while the wicked seem to be blessed?
One thing that I didn’t know then that I know now is, that God gives us all different seasons and dispensations of both blessings and suffering. The wicked man that you are watching may be in a blessing season.God pours out his blessings on both the sinner and righteous man.
God is the righteous and a just judge. He knows how much blessings or how much suffering each in individual needs in their lives to be balanced.
The Spirit of God will not strive always with mankind.
To whom much is given, then much is required.
We get in trouble when we try to judge or compare life to the lives of others!
Know this: That God is indeed a JUST JUDGE!
We should leave the FINAL JUDGEMENT of people’s to Him!
What Solomon is saying here is that it seems very unseemly or inappropriate for a righteous man to grovel or fall before the wicked. That is not consistent with our Bible. We also make God’s truth a lie which is lasciviousness. (See the Threefold Nature of Man, The 13 Steps down into the Human heart by BR Hicks.)
God promises to deliver the just man out of his troubles.Though he may fall down 7 times, he will get back up again. Before I knew this truth, I would compromise standards, values and my principles just to keep evil and wicked people in my life, happy. The righteous person must set boundaries for himself/herself, his/her family, and others and enforces these boundaries.
Falling down (4131- mowt) – to slide, shake, slide, carried, but of course, be fallen in decay,be removed, be ready to shake, slide or slip.
In looking at the meaning of this Hebrew word, in gives the connotation of the righteous man getting off course, decaying because of association with a bad apple, slipping and sliding and eventually falling.
This gives great credence to importance of our associations. Paul tells us to be not unequally yoked.Solomon went on to say that a righteous man and a wicked man are an abomination to each other!
* I have never given much credence to the saying – Friends for life.
Most of my close friends have all either died or moved in another direction. If you are really moving on for God and friends are stagnant, you will eventually have to leave all those friends and family behind. This brings me to marriage.I have seen people outgrow each other after 10-20 or 30 years. They grow apart because one wants to press on for God, while other falls in love with the things of the world!Paul tells us in the book, I Corinthian Chapter 7, to let the unbeliever depart.
When one couple gets to this place in their marriage, some serious choices have to be made concerning the marriage!
